As AI reshapes cultural production, whose cultures, values, and creative labour are being represented—and whose are missing? This workshop invites artists, creatives, archivists, cultural sector workers, scholars, and creative technologists to explore how creative and cultural organizations can partner with creators, especially in the Majority World, to co-develop fair, ethical, and representative datasets. Through concrete examples and participatory discussion, the session examines how extractive data practices can be transformed into collaborative, care-centred approaches grounded in consent, attribution, and value-sharing. Participants will reflect on how to build ethical, sustainable, and globally informed creative data with and for AI.
Goal: To enable creative and cultural practitioners to move from extractive AI data practices toward collaborative, care-centred models —particularly in collaboration with creators from the Majority World.
